Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome

This uncommon disorder of unknown ethiology manifests a triad of symptoms including fissured tongue, recurrent episodes of unilateral orofacial swelling (labial oedema) and recurrent unilateral facial paralysis. If the swelling just involves the lips, the disorder is called cheilitis granulomatosa. The treatment remains challenging; corticosteroids and physical therapy are the current approaches. back
